Episode 7.5 - We Couldn't Shut Up!

Episode 7 - Podcastus Interruptus

AAAAAAGGHHH! I don't know why the title screen didn't save. And it was all fancy, too. ANYWAY, this is the show with all the interruptions! Featuring our usual project chat and Sheila's review of the book "Knit Your Own Dog."

Show Notes:

On The Dance Card:

  Wendy is faithfully knitting on the Traveling Sweater by A. Karen Alfke with Valley Yarns Northfield, DK, on US 3/3.25 mm needles.  She is also trying to crochet the Roly Poly Cat, but had the wrong size yarn. Summer Ends, still on the needles but has not been worked on.
   Sheila cast on for the Mountain Ash Shawl, by Kate Gagnon with Debby Bliss Alpaca Silk DK on US 6/4 mm needles.   She also cast on for a Pug from Knit Your Own Dog (not for the faint of heart.) by Joanna Osborne and Sally Muir using worsted weight Knit Picks Bare on Size US 5/3.75 mm needles.  I still have my Granny Square on the hooks using worsted weight acrylic, slow progress.

Rate Your Date:

   Wendy has nothing for you.
   Sheila finished and felted her Felted Clogs by Bev Galeskas using Cascade 220 scraps on US 13/9 mm needles.  Great pattern for the whole family well worth the money.

Future Dates:

   Wendy is looking for patterns to bring on her trip.  Maybe Mad Color Weave socks by Christine Lorin or the Ginko Shoulderette shawl by Maggie Magali.  Wendy is also going to crochet a VooDoo doll for Sean of the His and Hers Podcast to help the Bruins win the Playoffs. (Go Bruins!!!)
   Sheila has no set future dates, needs to work on teacher gifts for end of year gifts.

Crushes and Heartbreaks:

   Wendy talks about her crush on the Vera Bradley bags and shows of her set, and her "hiking" backpack.
   Sheila is working on a hat design.  To help people who have problems wearing hats that make them look like they have a male gender on their head.

Baubles and Bling:

   Wendy shows of some bags from our friend Margaret, Martheme on Ravelry, and a felted kit and her designs.
    Sheila has nothing, sorry. 

Gossip and Innuendo:

   Wendy talks more about her trip to Germany, she got approval from Wollmeise that she can video in the store. Wishing her Aunt Sally good health.
   Sheila talks about Dramatic Knits auction for his Japanese Garden Shawl as of Wednesday has raised $114.00 for the Red Cross relief.  Two new shows Knit Bytes with Becca and Dragon Fly Soars with Vicki.

Episode 6 - School Vacation Edition

  Sheila really only has the Toe up socks with Louet Gems Fingering in Chestnut colorway (thanks Joan) and she is finally getting to those slippers Felted Clogs by Bev Galeskas.
   Wendy is still plugging away on her Traveling Sweater by A. Karen Alfke with Valley Yarns Northfield.

Rate Your Date:
  Sheila finished The Make it Work Shawl by Leslie Thompson using Cascade 220 in Coral on US size 9 (5.5mm) and she finished one of the Felted Clogs.
  Wendy finished Percy The Elephant by Irene Strange with Wintuk worsted weight acrylic yarn. She used safety eyes from Joann Fabric

Future Dates:
   Sheila is thinking on castion on for Pug  from Knit Your Own Dog by Sally Muir and Joanna Osborne maybe with the Louet Gems Fingering yarn.
   Wendy is planning on doing Roly Poly Cats by Nina Shimizu (free Pattern)

Crushes and Heartbreaks:
   Sheila's Redd is back, he has been traveling across country.  He is Iris The Gourmet Monster by Rebecca Danger in Lorna's Laces Green Line Worsted on size US 5 (3.75mm).  Thanks to Doggerham (Ravelry name) (sorry I said it was Gloamingorchid)  she sent a little extra Bun Bons  with Dancing Dog Dyeworks Yellow Peeps  too. 
   Wendy has a crush on Jared Floods new shawl Rock Island (pay pattern on Ravelry).  For Steve @ Dramatic Knits she also showed her first spindle or spun yarn.  Wendy reccomends Respect the Spindle by Abby Franquemont.

Baubles and Blings:
   Sheila has nothing.
   Wendy received her Loopy Ewe April kit, Madeline Tosh Sock in Midnight Rendevous colorway that is exclusive to the Loopy Ewe, Rubus sock pattern by Jeannie Cartmel and Nefertem Shawl by Kristin Kapur.  She also got the large Baggu bag (could fit a toddler in it.)  There are extra kits in the the Loopy Ewe Shop .

Gossip and Innuendo:
   Wendy talks about her trip to Germany and potentially going to Shanghai trip.  We both show are ineptness to figure out maps of other countries.  Sorry about that.
Gore Place Sheep Shearing Festival on April 30th in Waltham, get there early.
Sheila talks about how her son has Gout, rare for children, but has it anyways.  Everyone, but, the doctors new he had gout by the symptoms.

   Sheila is knitting Generic Toe Up Socks by Wendy Johnson with Judy's Magic Cast on.  and she started on Make it Work by Leslie Thompson of The Knit Girllls using Cascade 220 color Coral.

  Sheila Sewed together her Harold the House Plant Monster by Rebecca Danger.  She finished a dishcloth, Eloomanator's Diagonal by Jana Trent with Schachenmayr Nomotta Punto Cotton on Size 6 US (4.00mm).  Sheila also revealed her secret knitting for Laura Linneman of The Knit Girllls called Lil Bit Sock using Miss Babs Sport weight yarn. 

Future Dates:
  Wendy is planning on crocheting either Roly Poly Cats by Nina Shimizu (Don't remeber her mentioning this, but it is in her show notes) or Percy the Elephant by Reneegurumi.
  Sheila was looking through her stash and will deffinately cast on her slippers.  Might cast on for an Owl Two Ways by Ana Clerc, for her swap partner.

Crushes and Heartbreaks:
  Wendy is crushing on Valley Yarn's Northfield, very nice to work with and went on sale at Webs this week.
  Sheila has a heartbreak on the Miss Babs yarn.  The label is states 225 yards, but Ravelry states as 335 or 70 yards.  Check your labels.
  Go check out Steve's Podcast Dramatic Knits where is auctioning of the Japanese Garden Shawl  by Wendy Johnson.
Baubles and Bling:
  Wendy has nothing to add.
  Sheila Purchased the Leisure Arts Creative Collection book on Family knits for a Dollar at our local Dollar store, could not leave it there.  Looking for handmade soap for teacher gifts.

Gossip and Innuendo:
  Wendy has her mom in town.
   We talk about all of the gadgets we love.  Her are the links to what we mentioned.

Episode 4 - A Good Day to Dye


Wendy & Sheila with the usual project and yarn chat. Featured discussion about dyeing yarn with both acid dyes and non-toxic colors.

**Sorry for the delay on getting the video up!  I was plagued with problems, including, but not limited to my husband accidentally unplugging the laptop during the QuickTime export at some point last evening and then it posted on the blog in a weird way that took a while to sort out.  I think everything is okay now!

Show Notes:

 What is on the Dance Card:
   Sheila is Crocheting a large Solid Granny square.  No real pattern for this.  I used some Youtube videos.
   Wendy did the provisional cast on for the Traveling Sweater.  Wendy is also bring out of hibernation, The Summers End Sweater.

Rate Your Date:
   Sheila finished Claudia by M J Kim, Pinkerton Shawl by Susan Dittrich, and her Harold The Houseplant Monster by Rebecca Danger.  All projects were rated with Two Thumbs Up.

   Wendy finished her Fagus Shawl by Ann Lundblad, and Crocheted a Woo-Who Owl by Susanne Madsen.  Both projects were rated with Two Thumbs Up.

Future Dates:
   Sheila is still planning on doing the Felted Clogs by Bev Galeskas and maybe a pair of socks.
   Wendy wants to finish working on a modified pattern of Queen Anne's Lace scarf.

   Sheila, again, has nothing.
   Wendy has her Hiya Hiya yarn ball stitch markers from the "Yarn Crawl"

Gossip and Innuendo:
   Dyeing - Sheila Dyed a lot this week, or a couple of things.  Her Claudia was dyed in coffee after the hat was knit and she dyed Harold the House Plant Monster with Kool-Aid non-sugared packets only, while she was at work.

Gossip and Innuendo:
   Our gossip for the week is Crochet.  Some of Wendy's favorite Crochet projects were her Little Acorn Project bag by Brigitte Read, free on Ravelry, and her Strawberry Project bag that she modified with from the same pattern.
   Wendy also discussed her plans for her trip to Germany and the Wollmeise Store on the weekend of May 13th or 14th.  Wendy is hoping that she can take a video of the shop to show all of you what it looks like.  She is also hoping to speak with a Local Yarn Store in Germany about getting some Addi Turbo Clicks.
  Sheila would like to star Crocheting more, possible a large Granny Square Blanket.
