Wendy showed off her Celtic Cabled Scarf again from the PPC, by Vanessa Lewis in Vintage Maine Maid Blueberry Tweed on US 9 / 5.5 mm. She altered the pattern to make it shorter and added buttons.
Sheila finished the Cabled Hat by Amy Shannon with Dream in Color Blue Thunder on US 5 / 3.75mm and US 7 / 3.75 mm. This is to go with the Pembroke Vest by Kirsten Kapur. Sheila also finished the All hands on Deck top down mittens by Rachel from Dyeabolical yarns. She used Cascade 220 on US 5 / 3.75 mm in a light blue. Last but not least, she finished her Shetland Triangle Shawl by Evelyn Clark using Cascade Eco + in Forest Green Colorway on US 10 / 6 mm.

Sheila finished her Frank monster based on the Irving the Ice Box Monster by Rebecca Danger on US 3 / 3.25 mm needles with Knit Picks Comfy in various colors. One Night Stand: Frankensteins Monster Cloth by Brian McGaunn on US 8 / 5.0 mm with Lily's Sugar and Cream cotton yarn.

The Fiber Revival Roadtrip Episode

And...I actually chatted with designer Alison Green Will about my Gawain sweater (she designed it). Sadly, less than 2 seconds of that footage was recorded. (I can actually hear you laughing at me through the internet, Diane). She also has the Flutter-by Socks by Shannon Robalino on US 1 1/2 / 2.25 mm with Serendipitous Ewe Fingering Fate sock yarn. Sheila had a banner week for finished objects. She finished the Iris Mystery shawl by Natascha Vogele in Wollpapst Sockenwolle on US 6 / 4.0 mm needles. Loved the pattern, would do it again, great for breaking up variegated yarns. She also finished her Owl hat based on the Owlings pattern by Kerrie James on US 7 / 4.5 in Cascade 220 Super wash in the Mystic Purple colorway. Loved this pattern and the yarn is squishy. Last but certainly not least is her Saroyan is off the needles. The Saroyan is by Liz Abinante on US 6 / 4.0 mm in Malabrigo Lace, held double. Wonderful pattern, got tired of it and glad that it is done.

Wendy finished her Rock Island Shawl by Jared Flood in Ivy Brambles Romantica from The Yarn and Fiber Company on US 7 / 4.5 mm needles. Glad it was done the edge was long and tedious. She did love the Rock Island Lace section.

   We are both working on Wendy Johnson's Mystery Summer Shawl. I am using Sundara Sock Yarn on US 6 / 4.00mm. Wendy is using Spirit Trail Fiberworks on US 5 / 3.75mm.

   Wendy heartbreak is that her son got really burned from the sun the other day and he is very pale.

We both talk about what type of socks we like better, toe-up or cuff down.

   We mention Holiday Yarns, we will show our sock yarn next week.
   Sheila has acquired some lovely yarn by Into the Whirled Bukavu sock yarn by Cris in the Farnsworth - Pooling Colorway. Looking to do a slipped stich pattern for it. I also bought my first Fiber from Touch of Twist in their Fancy Feet Sock Roving, lovely greens.
   Wendy also bought some sock yarn by Into the Whirled, but their Pakokku, colorway Muse-Pooling. Wendy also was at the Yarn and Fiber booth that is from Derry NH and purchased some Ivy Brambles Romantica Lace in Night Sky colorway. We were at the Holiday Yarns booth where she bought some lovely fiber from Gnomespun Yarn in the Rambouillet Comb Top from Brewergnome or Dan. Wendy also purchased some Faux Angora 100% Nylon in the Bertie Botts colorway from Andrianne or Ady Bee of Knittink, comic book inspired dyed yarns.   She also purchased a Spindle Bag by Jessilu Bags featuring Gnomes on the bag. Later on she mentions a sweater pattern that she bought, Lillian Fay by Ellen Mason.

Gossip and Innuendo's:
   We talk about our Trip to Mass Sheep and Wool and a side trip to Webs Yarn shop.   We met Mellisa and Sean from the His and Hers podcast.
    Jadee from the Twisted Strands podcast was up in MA and metions a local yarn store The WoolPak. Next time she is up, hope to meet up with her.
   Knittings My Bag is organizing a Podcast Challange, should be intersting, Wendy and I want to play along. We should all be working on the same technique but different patterns. I believe the following are thinking about joining. Mommyneedsyarn, Dramatic Knits, Yarnivore, Dragon fly Knits.

   Sheila finished her Toe Up Socks by Wendy Johnson. with a short row heel on US 1 - 2.25 mm using Louet Gems Fingering in the Chestnut Colorway. Loved the pattern, used all my yarn and modified the toe to Judy's Magic Cast On.
   Wendy finished her Ginko Shoulderette Shawl by Maggie Magali using String Theory Caper Sock and it is blocked. She showed us the finished product last week, but it wasn't blocked.

   Wendy happily finished her Traveling Sweater by A. Karen Alfke in Valley Yarns Northfield DK on US 3 / 3.25 mm. She loved the pattern and would like to do it again in a more Spring like yarn.   She also finished her Ginko Shoulderette Shawl by Maggie Magali of Fragrant Heart Creations using String Theory Caper sock yarn in Essence colorway on US 5 / 3.75 mm. Very Easy pattern and liked the results. Will show it blocked next week.

   Sheila finally finished her Knit Your Own Dog, Joanna Osborne and Sally Muir, Pug, by using Knit Picks Bare on US 5 . 3.75 mm. The pattern was very easy to knit, horrible for directions on putting it together. Not doing this again, great coffee table book. She also finished another Preemie Hat by Karen Evertt on US 1.5 / 2.5 mm needels using scrap yarn that my son dyed in reds and oranges from Knit Picks Bare essential fingering.

Future Dates:
Wendy is planning on doing a VooDoo doll for Sean of His and Hers podcast to have for this coming weekend.

   Sheila wants to cast on Everything!!! Most likely do some more Socks, maybe using the same yarn but different pattern for each sock. She had heard some one doing that somewhere.

Crsushes and Heartbreaks:
   Wendy has a crush on the Addi Lace Clicks, interchangable needles. She will knit on them more and review in a later podcast.
   Sheila is heartbreaking over her sons continued medical issues, newest issue, is Pseudogout. He has been in some serious pain and was home all week.   Crush is she might be tempted to start spinning on a spindel, we shawl see.

Baubles and Bling:
   Sheila first for obvious reasons. Sheila acquried some sKnitches yarn in her Syncopation Self Striping Sock, in the Zoot Suit colorway.   I really like her yarn.
   Wendy had a boatload of Wollmeise to show as well as the winner of the I heart Wollmeise contest colorway in Ballerina.

Gossip and Innuendo:
   Wendy had a lot to talk about her trip to Germany and please watch her seperate video on her tour of the Wollmeise shop.

   Sheila is still working on Knit Your Own Dog, Pug with Knit Picks Bare Esential on US 5 / 3.75 by Joanna Osburne and Sally Muir. Her Mountain Ash with Debbie Bliss Alpaca Silk DK on US 6 / 4mm by Kate Gagnon Osburn. Sheila also had a Preemie Hat with left over sock yarn that was dyed by her son with Kool-Aid on US 1.5 / 2.5 mm by Karen Everitt.

Rate Your Date:
   Sheila finshed Preemie hat with Cherry Tree Hill Supersock colorway Sugar Maple on US 1.5 / 2.5 mm by Karen Everitt.   This was a very easy and quick pattern, she did a rolled brim instead of ribbing. Sheila also finished a Ballband Dishcloth with Sugar and Cream scrap cotton on US 8 / 5 mm by Pisgah Yarn or Mason Dixon Knitting. She loves this pattern, it is great for scraps and the colors combinations are endless.
Sheila did another dishcloth, Grandma's Favorite Dishcloth using Sugar and Cream scraps as well on US 8 / 5 mm by Ruth From Big Springs TX. This a simple diagonal pattern also great for scraps. Sheila finished a third dishcloth, Apple Cloth with some cotton blend yarn from Michaels on US 8 / 5 mm by Rhonda White. Great patter, all cloths patterns are free on Ravelry.

Future Dates:
   Sheila keeps saying she wants to knit socks. Who knows.

Sheila misses Wendy and is very glad that this video worked.

Sheila received her Monster Swap from the Rebecca Danger Board on Ravelry. Allison, psylocke26 on Ravlery was my partner and sent me a Hugo the Couch Monster. Penny or Penelope was my quest this week not much of a talker.... Was sent some lovely yarn and stitch markers. The yarn is Avery Allison Yarns, their Premium Multi-colored Hand Painted fingering yarn.

   Sheila cast on for the Mountain Ash Shawl, by Kate Gagnon with Debby Bliss Alpaca Silk DK on US 6/4 mm needles.   She also cast on for a Pug from Knit Your Own Dog (not for the faint of heart.) by Joanna Osborne and Sally Muir using worsted weight Knit Picks Bare on Size US 5/3.75 mm needles. I still have my Granny Square on the hooks using worsted weight acrylic, slow progress.

   Wendy is knitting on Traveling Sweater by a. Karen Alfke with Valley Yarns Northfield, Dk. Her Summer End Sweater did not receive any love this week.
   Sheila is knitting Generic Toe Up Socks by Wendy Johnson with Judy's Magic Cast on. and she started on Make it Work by Leslie Thompson of The Knit Girllls using Cascade 220 color Coral.

Sheila Sewed together her Harold the House Plant Monster by Rebecca Danger. She finished a dishcloth, Eloomanator's Diagonal by Jana Trent with Schachenmayr Nomotta Punto Cotton on Size 6 US (4.00mm). Sheila also revealed her secret knitting for Laura Linneman of The Knit Girllls called Lil Bit Sock using Miss Babs Sport weight yarn.

Future Dates:
  Wendy is planning on crocheting either Roly Poly Cats by Nina Shimizu (Don't remeber her mentioning this, but it is in her show notes) or Percy the Elephant by Reneegurumi.
Sheila was looking through her stash and will deffinately cast on her slippers. Might cast on for an Owl Two Ways by Ana Clerc, for her swap partner.

Crushes and Heartbreaks:
Wendy is crushing on Valley Yarn's Northfield, very nice to work with and went on sale at Webs this week.
Sheila has a heartbreak on the Miss Babs yarn. The label is states 225 yards, but Ravelry states as 335 or 70 yards. Check your labels.
Go check out Steve's Podcast Dramatic Knits where is auctioning of the Japanese Garden Shawl by Wendy Johnson.
Baubles and Bling:
Wendy has nothing to add.
  Sheila Purchased the Leisure Arts Creative Collection book on Family knits for a Dollar at our local Dollar store, could not leave it there. Looking for handmade soap for teacher gifts.

Gossip and Innuendo:
Wendy has her mom in town.
   We talk about all of the gadgets we love. Her are the links to what we mentioned.
Knit Kit (I linked to Google search that way you can shop by price), 7 Yaks Design (I also have a heart shape needle gauge), and Puppy Snips. I also had a needle gauge that was the shape of a man, by I Needle U. I think that is all.

Episode 4 - A Good Day to Dye

Wendy & Sheila with the usual project and yarn chat. Featured discussion about dyeing yarn with both acid dyes and non-toxic colors.

**Sorry for the delay on getting the video up! I was plagued with problems, including, but not limited to my husband accidentally unplugging the laptop during the QuickTime export at some point last evening and then it posted on the blog in a weird way that took a while to sort out. I think everything is okay now!

Show Notes:

What is on the Dance Card:
   Sheila is Crocheting a large Solid Granny square. No real pattern for this. I used some Youtube videos.
   Wendy did the provisional cast on for the Traveling Sweater. Wendy is also bring out of hibernation, The Summers End Sweater.

   Sheila finished Claudia by M J Kim, Pinkerton Shawl by Susan Dittrich, and her Harold The Houseplant Monster by Rebecca Danger. All projects were rated with Two Thumbs Up.

   Wendy finished her Fagus Shawl by Ann Lundblad, and Crocheted a Woo-Who Owl by Susanne Madsen. Both projects were rated with Two Thumbs Up.

Future Dates:
   Sheila is still planning on doing the Felted Clogs by Bev Galeskas and maybe a pair of socks.
   Wendy wants to finish working on a modified pattern of Queen Anne's Lace scarf.

   Sheila, again, has nothing.
   Wendy is in love with all things Sock Monkey. Has two patterns she would like to knit, Jerry the Musical Monkey by Rebecca Danger and the Mister Ben Sock Monkey pattern from Two Old Bags. The Perhaps Today is a Good Day to Dye Sock Monkey Yarn can be found at Hanks Yarn.

Baubles and Bling:
   Sheila, again, has nothing.
   Wendy has her Hiya Hiya yarn ball stitch markers from the "Yarn Crawl"

Gossip and Innuendo:
   Dyeing - Sheila Dyed a lot this week, or a couple of things. Her Claudia was dyed in coffee after the hat was knit and she dyed Harold the House Plant Monster with Kool-Aid non-sugared packets only, while she was at work.

   Our gossip for the week is Crochet. Some of Wendy's favorite Crochet projects were her Little Acorn Project bag by Brigitte Read, free on Ravelry, and her Strawberry Project bag that she modified with from the same pattern.
   Wendy also discussed her plans for her trip to Germany and the Wollmeise Store on the weekend of May 13th or 14th.  Wendy is hoping that she can take a video of the shop to show all of you what it looks like. She is also hoping to speak with a Local Yarn Store in Germany about getting some Addi Turbo Clicks.
  Sheila would like to star Crocheting more, possible a large Granny Square Blanket.

Episode 2 - Heartbreakers

Our usual project chat, along with discussion of two projects that broke our hearts. A small amount of yarn porn from a weekend trip to Still River Mill.

On The Dance Card:
   Wendy is knitting Fagus by Ann Lundblad out of Paca Peds H-T from The Alpaca Yarn Co.   She is still working on her Voodoo.
   Sheila is knitting on Pinkerton Shawl, by Susan Dittrich out of Wollmeise in Scwarz. She cast on for Harold the House Plant Monster by Rebecca Danger, for a swap that she is in, with Knit Picks Bare 100 % wool.

Rate Your Date:
Wendy finished her Cabled Caplet by Patons with Bernatn Felting Wool, with some modifications. Still needs to be blocked and would do it again using Wrap Style book for other modifications.

Sheila finished her Owlings by Kerrie James with Cascade 220 Superwash in Plum.

Planned Dates:
Wendy wants to knit the The Traveling Sweater by A. Karen Alfke for Blue Moon Fiber Arts in Valley Yarns Northfield. She also plans on knitting the Zinnia Dahlia hat by Petra Hoy with Still River Mills Seven Sammys (worsted 20% Samoyed fur, 80 % Merino, 100 yards.)

   Sheila wants to knit Claudia by M J Kim in Knit Picks Bare 100% Peruvian Wool and Felted Clogs by Bev Galeskas to replace a pair that is getting worn.

Crushes and Heartbreaks:
   Sheila had a very hard time with the Koolhaas this week and decided not to cast on for it.
   Wendy's biggest heartbreak is her Myrtle Cardigan by Snowden Becker made with String Theory Caper Sock colorway; Canyon. Loved the yarn, pattern had some difficulties. What to do about it?

Blings and Baubles:
Sheila talks about Traveling Monster from the Rebecca Danger Group and her Monster Swap that she got from Knitpheliac on Ravelry.
Wendy got some lovely yarn from Still River Mills, Seven Sammys made from dog fur and Limited Production Yarn that includes Quviut, sild and cashmere.   She also got the Celtic Vines finerless mitts pattern and Valley Northfield yarn for a sweater.

Gossip and Innuendo:
   Wendy went to Still River Mills for a tour of their processing plant and then to Webs store for yarn. She is starting to plan on a trip to Germany for her 20th Anniversary and possibly a trip to the Wollmeise Store.
   Sheila has nothing, sorry.

A Yarnventure to Still River Mill and Webs!

I'll be discussing this trip in Episode 2, but I thought I would post some of the pictures I took on my little Yarnventure this weekend.

My knitting guru, Paulette, called ahead and arranged for our small group of 4 to visit Still River Fiber Processing Mill in Easton, CT on Saturday. I've never seen a fiber mill before, and after meeting the couple that owns Still River Mill and learning about fiber processing, I found myself wishing I could buy a farm somewhere and start one myself!

Here's what a small fiber mill looks like:

I bought some awesome and interesting fiber at Still River Mills, which I will show off in Episode 2. I can highly recommend both the tour and the fiber. My rating: A++!

Our next stop of the day was Sylvester's in Northampton for lunch. I had a delicious salad there with goat cheese, dried cranberries, chicken, tomatoes and red onions. Yum!

Webs! If you haven't been there and you live anywhere near Northampton, MA, it is so worth a stop. They have a large shop with all of the latest in yarn and fiber, plus, they have THIS:

Yes, this is a view down one of the aisles in their warehouse. Yes, they have a warehouse...full of discount yarn. I got some good deals at Webs that I'll share with you in Episode 2.
