Episode 94: The Cat Brigade

In this episode, Sheila shows her nearly completed Clapotis, and Wendy shows her finished Damask and Crosswords at the Coffee Shop shawls. Sheila shares the good news about her new job and we discuss some upcoming fiber related events.

Crosswords at the Coffee Shop by Karrie Steinmetz in Cascade Pastaza.  I completed this project earlier, but am trying a crocheted a crab stitch edge to prevent curling.  I will re-block to see if it makes it less curled.

Dyeabolical Yarns Portuguese Merino in the Flower Shop Inferno color way. I split the braid in thirds lengthwise and will spin each third and then ply them together from the same end, to keep some of the color runs together. This should give me stripes that blend. I used the same method on my Captain Tightpants from ITW.

Spa Knit and Spin Retreat in Freeport, Maine, February 1-3 by the New England Textile Arts Network. Wendy (and possibly Sheila) will be there with some friends to check out the marketplace on 2/2 (Saturday). We will post a thread in the group closer to the date for those who want to try and meet up to say hello and get a button. 

North Shore Yarn Crawl 2013 March 14-17 at various yarn stores on the North Shore of Massachusetts. We probably won’t attend, but it is a fun day of yarn shopping with store event discounts and lots of chances to win drawing prizes.

We pick a prize for the Holiday KAL, show you our Christmas gifts and unveil two new t-shirt designs. Sheila swears (!!!) so we have to mark this episode as "explicit."

Episode 92: Knitter Mafia

The ladies bring you the Christmas Episode! Wendy shows off her finished Shetland Triangle and debuts her Suki in two colors of DIC Smooshy. Sheila shows her progress on the Clapotis she is knitting in Gypsy Girl Creations gradient yarn. During this episode, we wear crazy Christmas hats in honor of Knitpurlgurl, share some of the stories of our Christmas prep, and invent the Knitting Mafia!

Wendy is planning to use her handspun for a Party Mix. Sheila doesn't have a future date right now, but may knit some wash cloths next year to give as holiday gifts.

Wendy had a week of repeated Christmas Baking Fail and Sheila can't wait for her husband to go back to work next week.

Wendy and Sheila have very little on the needles this week! Sheila shows her nearly finished Turn a Square hat, and Wendy shows her completed Skipperdee sweater, snowflake and Crosswords at the Coffee Shop shawl. The ladies have lots of RAP'd patterns to show, Sheila's BMFA club yarn and a surprise package of AWESOME from 4kittieshaveI.

The ladies bring you their usual project chat, including Sheila's two new projects (socks and a hat), and Wendy's finished Spiral Cowl and Elf Hat. There is also impromptu singing and pictures of Sheila drawing Wendy's blood. We also discuss the knitting community's loss of Knitpurlgurl and Wendy's recent loss of her beloved dog.
